Laura Combs is a Senior Software Engineer with Gale Force Software Corporation. She has more than 11 years of software development experience in the fields of pharmacy information systems, laboratory information systems, financial/banking applications, and data warehousing systems.
Prior to joining Gale Force Software as a Senior Software Engineer, Ms. Combs served as Senior Programmer/Analyst for Cornerstone Pharmacy Services, LLC, since 2000. Tasks included in her design and implementation of desktop software applications and support of an AS/400 pharmacy information system included the following:
- Integration of a third-party imaging/workflow system with an existing AS/400 mainframe pharmacy system. This effort involved the full life-cycle of development for the system, from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, and training end-users.
- Developed an innovative software application to automate internet-based patient benefits inquiries, which resulted in the significant reduction in data-entry labor.
- Designed and implemented a complete backup pharmacy information system enabling the download of mainframe data to a PC, where patient data, prescription information, printed barcoded prescription labels, and packing list reports could be entered or produced.
At Orchard Software, Laura had responsibility for the localization of all user interfaces for a 4th Dimension Laboratory Information System, which is a database and programming language package that can be executed on PC or Macintosh operating systems.
She also worked for Baker Hill Corporation, where she customized a small business loan workflow application for individual clients. At Avantec, she worked on a team that had responsibility for enhancing and supporting an internal data warehousing system. This included the migration of the system from its existing database application to a new one and execution of a major system upgrade.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Indiana State University.
