Experienced Team Launches New Software Engineering Company
March 13, 2006 — Indianapolis, Indiana — Gale Force Software Corporation has been founded by a team of software engineers with a proven track record in providing software engineering, project management, and commercial product development services to a broad range of clients. This group, which averages 15 years of experience, has particular expertise in working with clients in the medical device,, molecular diagnostics and secure access control marketplaces. During their careers, Gale Force Software’s team members have held significant positions with companies such as Roche Diagnostics Corporation; Baker Hill; Naval Avionics Center; Software Artistry; Eli Lilly and Company; UMM Electronics; Science Applications International Corporation; and Indesign, LLC. Most recently, all of the founders of Gale Force Software filled senior roles at the RND Group, Inc., in Indianapolis. One of Gale Force Software’s team members was also a co-founder of RND.
While still with RND Group, the members of Gale Force Software’s software team played lead engineering roles on a number of projects for medical diagnostics and life sciences companies, many of which were in the molecular diagnostics arena. Among the projects on which these software engineers were key contributors were:
• Gen-Probe, Inc.’s, TIGRIS molecular analyzer, which was the first fully-automated molecular diagnostic instrument introduced into the marketplace. Engineers who are now with Gale Force Software were responsible for designing the overall software architecture and user interface for the instrument and played significant roles in the development of the instrument’s full device control, database, reports, and laboratory information system interface software components.
• Osmetech’s eSensor XT-8 System, which is a highly-sensitive electrochemistry-based array platform used for fully-automated genotyping. One of Gale Force Software’s team designed and developed major architectural software components used to control this molecular diagnostics instrument.
• Wireless connectivity of an existing near-patient testing device used in hospitals and long-term care facilities. A Gale Force Software engineer designed and implemented the bi-directional, real-time wireless data communication protocol for the instrument to enable patient bedside connectivity to a hospital’s information management system.
• A system for physicians to lease wearable body monitors to their patients, to track the usage of the devices, and to allow patients to view the data from the device through an easy to use web application. The Gale Force Software engineer who was responsible for this project was successful in quickly mastering a number of new technologies and proprietary architectures that needed to be implemented in the final product.
“We believe that we will be able to apply the value gained from our experience with these and other projects in a variety of markets to the benefit of each of our clients’ product development efforts,” said Fran Gale, company spokesman and one of the principals of the company. “We have considerable expertise in both embedded and high-level software application development in the various markets we have served, and we have demonstrated our ability to master new technologies and proprietary communication protocols in an efficient manner. This experience enhances our ability to help all of our clients get their products to market quickly and reliably.”
Gale Force Software does not develop any of its own products. The company’s focus is on providing software engineering services on an outsourced basis to companies involved in their own product development efforts. The company is capable of participating in all phases of the product development life-cycle. Software engineering support can consist of augmenting a client’s internal engineering team with Gale Force Software engineers who are comfortable with either leading or working as part of that team. Support may also mean having a complete software product design and development effort delivered as a turnkey software application or product. The team’s capabilities include requirements development, proof-of-concept/feasibility, prototyping, implementation, testing, documentation, and manufacturing support.
Gale Force Software works with clients located across the country. To learn more about the company, our engineering team, and our capabilities, please visit www.galeforcecorp.com.
